Extending the Duration of Your Studies

Important information

From 1 December 2023, study plans will again be issued for study time extensions, which must be submitted by 10 January 2024.

Requests must include the following:

  1. any outstanding courses,
  2. details of the semester(s) in which the corresponding grade(s) is/are to be completed,
  3. reasons for the delay in studies,
  4. address, if it is the first extension of study time or if the address has changed.
  5. Contact options for questions by telephone or Zoom including possible appointment windows.
  6. Requests received without the above  information will not be processed

Extending the Duration of the Bachelor Studies

Students who are unable to complete their BA studies within the regular period of study must submit a request for an extension of their studies in the 9th semester of the major subject using the form Application for extension of study period (Gesuch um Studienzeitverlängerung)

Extending the Duration of the Master Studies

Students who cannot complete their MA studies within the regular period of study must submit a request for an extension of their study period in the 6th semester of the major subject using the form Application for extension of study period (Gesuch um Studienzeitverlängerung). The number of semesters in the Master's programme starts at one again.
