Since February 2026, Odeta Rudling is an advanced Postdoc and assistant at the Chair of Modern General and Eastern European History. Since 2025 she is furthermore the leader of seminar series EAST MEETS WEST at history Department of Lund University that also collaborates with Bern University. 2021-2022 she held a postdoctoral position at the History Department of Lund University, Sweden. Between 2022-2025 she taught history and Eastern and central European Studies at Lund University. In addition, between 2022-2025 she was a member and administrator of the Horizon-Widera project “Facing the Past: Public History for a stronger Europe (EUROPAST),” partnering institutions in Vilnius, Luxembourg and Potsdam. She defended her PhD dissertation “The Paradox of Socialist Folklore: Soviet Lithuania und Folk Music between Sovietization and Nation Building (1940-1990)” (written in German: “Das Paradox der sozialistischen Folklore: Sowjetlitauen und Volksmusik zwischen Sowjetisierung und Nationsbildung (1940-1990))” in June 2019 with a magna cum laude at Greifswald University. A reworked version of the dissertation thesis was published as Von der nationalen Form zum nationalen Inhalt. Litauische Folklore zwischen Sowjetisierung und Nationsbildung (1940-1990) (From National Form to National Content: Lithuanian Folklore between Sovietization and Nation-building (1940-1990)) in 2023 with Harrassowitz Publishing House within the series Forschungen zur osteuropäischen Geschichte.
