Lectureship in Migration History

The Lectureship in Migration History deals with the equally complex and fundamental historical phenomenon of human migratory movements. The subject of migration history is concerned with the changing forms, paths, reasons, experiences and consequences of migration. The focus is particularly on topics such as cross-border cultural and knowledge transfers through the mobility of people, migration and colonialism, the legal regulation of migratory movements, the politicisation of ethnic, cultural and religious differences, transnational networks of migration or concepts of migration research.

In research and teaching, the lectureship focuses on developments from the 20th to the 21st century.

Because migration permeates all areas of life and the study of the subject area has a strong contemporary relevance, the lectureship also sees itself as an institution for the interdisciplinary networking of research work on migration from various disciplines.
